The large Community of
Digil and Mirifle in Mogadishu are
requesting this message of theirs to be
published on anywhere the peace lovers in
the world can read from these unclothed
facts that is been buried for a long time.
They started their
statement as follows: -
As the Digil and Mirifle
population, our attitude shouldn't be like a
population that reached a crossroad in life.
Digil and Mirifle at the diaspora across the
continents should reach their people who are
oppressed in their own Homeland and help
them somehow whatever they can do for them.
The Nomadic Militias have
signed a Historic piece of agreement in
ELDORET CONFERENCE in KENYA. They agreed the
International communities to have access in
this ravaged country of ours, and disarming
them. It is a dream come true for the
civilians who did not get killed yet but
suffering in the Horn of Africa and those
like most of you who are in abroad as
refugees.
For those who fashioned
their own kingdom in this divided city
Mogadishu will not be happy even though they
signed it, as medicine is always bitter and
painful whether it be injection or surgical
related treatment. And we as a Digil and
Mirifle People are appreciating the efforts
The International community are contributing
although the Butchers are already started
accusations, finger-point and predictions of
failure. It seems things are not getting
their way.
Our social struggle,
rights were always frequently buried beneath
the visible surface by the associated powers
of ignorance who vandalized this country of
ours for so long, and it was due to our
weakness, and confusion that did not let us
see our numerical strength as well as the
treasures sitting beneath our lands and
backyards. We failed by remaining as peace
lovers, but never too late.
We couldn't achieve
realizing our goals for over forty years as
a nation. For those who were working against
us germinating in us individuals that sow
the seeds of division among our communities
whose intentions were always pretense, fraud
and bloodshed among families. They've
reached certain limited success of their
mission and we should put an end to it for
good. We say: - "no more sweeping dirt under
the carpet".
It was our forefathers
who founded this great nation of Digil and
Mirifle who flourished from the outskirts of
Mogadishu to the International known borders
of Ethiopia, all the way down to Ras-kampone
border of Kenya.
Even though we were
Multicultural nation most of us did not
unite us by blood-relationship, and achieved
a great goals, that is why we are not
DigilMirle but Digil and Mirifle, and that's
why for example Biimaal was no longer Dir
but Digil and Mirifle. There is no one else
who can find us a home in Galgaduud, Mudug
or any other known hostile territory within
Somalia. We don't deal with savages of their
kind but it was destiny that brought us
together. And we feel happy for our brethren
Somalilanders who are about to write a new
history from their unforgettable past.
We developed new culture,
major common language that we don't share
with our nomadic Militias from the Central
of Somalia. We adopted the common language 'Maymaay'
and laid new foundation based on
self-respect nation who are productive whom
both the Nomadic and Italian colony enjoyed
their fruits but not appreciated.
In early 1930s, when the
first poverty stricken Mareehaans and their
neighboring war-mongering clan of Habargidir
wars lengthened a while, some of them came
at our doorsteps fleeing from their habitual
wars. We welcomed them as a Human being,
Muslims, Africans, Somalis. We understood
their plea, we knew their background, and
couldn't shut the door on their faces.
We let them stay, adopted
our culture, became decent hardworking
citizens contributing their share of income
tax portion to be given the less fortunate
ones. They adopted our language and even
their children are speaking today the
Maymaay language. The new generation of the
Military Era will be surprised to find out
why the late Dictator Mohamed Siad Barre
couldn't speak Maymaay! Because He wasn't
born in Upper Jubba as he claimed but came
as a teenage boy in Upper-Jubba riding on
the back of a donkey.
Today it is sheer
absurdity when individuals like General
Gaani, General Gabyow, Sergent Barre Shire
Hiiraale, who were not even young enough
under 50 to pick the language of the land
whom they are claiming and killing unarmed
peaceful indigenous Digil and Mirifle for.
The ones who let their relatives stay in
peace and earn their living, something that
they never knew before, earning and 'Working
for it'.
Naturally, we can still
let these butchers stay the South-west
Somalia but we say: 'Lay down your weapons',
face justice to those who committed
atrocities against civilians under The UN
Criminal courts, where they will be provided
the best Lawyers, if they are found not
guilty they can earn decent life, respect
human rights, International laws, and the
laws of the country. And they should also
stop pursuing criminal activities ever after
and keep in mind that they no longer in
charge to make a fake laws open to be broken
by them.
They should all remember
that Adam was not driven away from the
garden because he was innocent, if they
reform they can stay in this garden as long
as they lead a new life far from killing and
corruption of any kind, if their intentions
are really genuine.
For us, as a Digil and
Mirifle people, we've suffered so long in
regarding to their betrayal of Somalinnimo,
and toosoo isku tiirsada.
-
Somalinnimo did
not give our children schools in our own
towns and villages, scholarships and all
the benefits any Nomadic child could
easily get while ours got through
illegal entry to those countries who
provided us education or we paid a large
sum of money to a Nomadic politician to
let us have the Scholarships for the
Somalis.
-
Somalinnimo was what
make us the only people who paid taxes
and become slaves in their own lands.
-
Somalinnimo did not
constructed for Us Hospitals, Roads etc.
-
Somalinnimo was what
cut our trees, set fire on our harvest,
and shot us dead on the streets.
-
Somalinnimo did not
give Us Electricity in the 21st,
century.
-
Somalinnimo has shown
Us the Soviets building the only
Hospital ever in Digil and Mirifle lands
[Weejit] since the Italian left Somalia
in the name of Somalia, and We were
excluded as patients while surprisingly
thousands of T.B. [tuberculosis]
infected people were brought in full of
hundreds of truck loads from the Central
Somalia and Eastern Ethiopia for years.

That
Somalinnimo was the one that allowed the
contagious disease to spread along the
unprotected healthy people of the
invaded area without giving them
consideration.
-
Somalinnimo did not
gave Us civil servant Jobs unless the
Nomadics couldn�t do it! Or sometimes
most of the Digil and Mirifle people
couldn't fulfill the first condition to
get a job, 'He must be Somalian' able to
speak Somali language. My Uncle from
Kurtun, Baidoa could not get a job as
Garbage collector because He couldn't
speak Maha-Tiri but Maymaay.
The list can go on and on
forever so the line should be drawn to
somewhere whether it be in writing or in
real life.
We appreciate what The
International Community is trying to do for
Somalia especially our Neighboring Countries
who tolerated so much insults from the
Nomadic Somalis, and also accommodated
thousands of our refugees in their homeland.
To those who are creating
and addressing accusations against our
neighboring country are unfortunately
seeking scapegoat and creating clouds of
smoke so they can hide under, and continue
their criminal activities, such as
assassinations, hostage takings, terrorizing
civilians, and exploit the weaker ones.
Any negotiation should
not be different from a Marriage contract.
The International Community should witness
all the details of the contract to be
respected and adopted in a fully manner.
Like marriage, the verbal exchange of
proposal and acceptance should be adopted in
a written and louder voice, like Our
Brothers in Somaliland if divorce becomes
necessary the Digil and Mirifle people
should be given the right to divorce the
habitual warring clans of Central Somalia.
We will support them with food aids and
whatever we can afford to spare.
-
Real Arms embargo
should be implemented on Somalia that
ravaged Wars of Genocide, uprooting
civilians from their homelands, those
Bandits of land expansionists were
conducting over a decade. Discouraged
the International Community to continue
a humanitarian mission in 1993 of saving
thousands of innocent children and women
dying of starvation deliberately planned
by the Nomadic Militias to uproot them
from their lands. As the mission failed
after the killing over 90 UN personnel
and unaccountable tens of foreign relief
workers by the same perpetrators their
victims continuing to suffer up to now.
-
The International
Community should realize that the bottom
of reality couldn�t be comprehended till
its root causes are investigated afresh.
[Southern-Somalia fertile land invasion]
is the key. A full protection for the
indigenous people of the Digil and
Mirifle are needed against any threat
that may pose by the Armed Bandits from
Central Somalia.
-
The International
Community should deeply ponder regarding
the countless leaders of the remnants of
Siad Barre�s Regime and their offspring
who are leading several hundreds of
young Bandits and their communities who
are occupying other people's houses,
farms, etc.
-
The young Bandits
running around the farmlands of the
fertile lands who came with one shirt,
piece of cloth wrapped under their waist
and one AK-47 Abdiqasim or Aideed gave
them, should be left with no AK-47, the
mosquito bites and working for their
food will settle the rest of the matter.
-
The stolen properties
that resulted either by killing the
owner, or chasing, or paying a
counterfeit monies from Indonesia that
forced the original owner to sell either
what instigated by a threat, fear or
under duress by a created situation of
starvation after looting their food and
left with no food to afford should be
returned to their rightful owners or the
deceased family's or relatives.
-
The financial
Accounts in overseas that belongs to the
perpetrators should be tracked down,
seized, and transferred to the disposal
of The International community.
-
Any Somalian no
matter how highly educated he/she may be
whose lineage goes back to Central
Somalia Clans should not be consulted
the affairs that concern Digil and
Mirifle Somalis without a Digil and
Mirifle counterpart is present.
-
There should be a
modernized population census adopted in
everywhere in Somalia and each Somali
person be fingerprinted so no one can
play double game.
-
The People of
Somaliland should be recognize as
sovereign State with its International
borders known and marked on the world
map if they choose so through an
Internationally supervised Referendum,
to end the Nomadic dream of a greater
Somalia, and recognize that this is an
unchangeable actuality, so in the future
they do not even think to wage an attack
to unite the Greater Somalia.
