Maayland.com and Maayland Press are both a Somali Maay news media, runs by a Somali Maay nationals, a nonpartisan organization apart from those rival groups from central and northeastern Somalia fighting over the Somali leadership for decades. Maayland.com and Maayland press are working to reform the Southern Somali homeland situations, to speak for the voiceless Somalis in Southern Somalia.

Through education, organizing and advocacy for the Somali Maay Population and those earlier settled with them peacefully before the Italian departure in 1960, we promote diverse and independent news broadcasting to all Somalis serving with both Somali national languages as well as English, Italian and Amharic in the near future, So, all our readers can have a Universal access to an unbiased news stream from the Internet as start, Radio and TV as soon as the country sterilized from Al-Shabab and warlord-government virusus.

Maayland Press was launched in early 1999 by media scholars such as DR; Ali Umurow, DR. Hassan Muudeey,  and journalists such as Aw-Umurow, Jason Silver, and DR. Ali our executive director. Today, Maayland Press stands as one of the largest media reform organization in Somalia and growing, it is run by a nonprofit organization of Somali-Maay Community in North America, and so far solely rely on the support of our members and some of our brethren in other non-Maay Somali communities who share the same sentiment and understand the cause behind these effort whole Heartedly.

Our Purpose

Since media play a huge role in our lives. TV, radio, the Internet, movies, books and newspapers inform and influence our ideas, opinions, values and beliefs. They shape our understanding of the world and give us the information we need to hold responsible The so-called UN imposed Transitional Federal Government and its warlord leaders in Somalia and those militias serving their tribal agendas with the new uniforms to be indicted, and set to be accountable for their actions and brought to justice before their expiry date.

As we know our main stream media system (who call themselves free press) mostly owned by members of the warring-like groups from central Somalia and some known as the Islamic Court Union, that's why President Abdillahi Yusuf can't stand their sharp tongues, that includes BBC Somali-Branch who run member by the same group, it is biased and serves as well the old British colonial view, and the rest of course are running by some scandalous profiteering individuals who profit from the chaos, financing the Transitional Federal government or otherwise by being allies originates from the  the same roots.  

The picture is getting clearer, that's why we can pinpoint where the failure originated from in the first place, by the International community always siding with the warmongers and giving them all the support they need, including maintaining to cling on their totalitarianism bench to oppress, financing them, availing them with new sophisticated weaponry, masquerading them as the sole capable group able to settle down the country, when in reality this action clearly represent; 'by supporting an arsonist to lead the firefighters to extinguish the house he set the fire on in the first place, and we sincerely feel sorry for the Ethiopian soldiers losing their lives senselessly in Somalia by being on the wrong side.

Even though these facts for many Somalis may find it absurd, the continuation handing over the power to warlords, shows only the intention to rekindle the Somalia blazing affairs. Their relentless contested war for over 5 decades and continuing is prove to the facts that it always had a secure backing for the aggression. This broken system isn't natural nor it is accidental, as it is for far too long anyone to fail to notice what is going wrong. The corrupted politician's media policies in place has been made behind  closed doors by the perpetrators in the nation's name without their consent and served against their best interests for years or since the day the people of central Somali regions start wearing Italian and Egyptian made kaki uniforms and started broadcasting their camel poems, and start propagating the reunion of the greater divided Somalia as one sacred existence mission.

If we want better media, we need to better media policies. If we want better policies, we must engage all Somalis in policy debates and demand better and true media coverage of the facts on the ground, other than Somalis are one, with one religion, one culture and one language. These propagandas should be put to stop, and regional borders be secured from trespassing by vagrant families from central and northeastern Somalia, and their armed nomadic militias in the Somalia Hinterland Areas, that's why Maayland Press was created, to pair broadcasting with our brothers in Somaliland who can be called; 'unbiased' and understand the sufferings and  the same kind ordeal from the same cruel hands that knows only creating havoc.

We intend to work harder to make sure media reform as bona fide political issue in The new Somalia, where the former oppressed majority will have the right to challenge the warmongers from neighboring central and northeastern regions with their so-called god-given rights over others is nothing but veneer it's color fading away as their aged Leaders. The so-called Big Media companies in Somalia and their free-press journalists have plenty of lobbyists doing their truth twisting of Somalia affairs for the same groups financing the cause, while bidding the overruling God-given rights based on their inflated bogus population that do not support the facts and their unstoppable so-called brave militias (Al-Shabab) chased by 4000 Ethiopian soldiers (may God-bless them) within 4 days.

While their so-called useless experiences for being a former army officer or being members of high-ranking officials in previous corrupted or dictator's administrations that committed atrocities and resulted these situations to the same victims crying out loudly against those perpetrators being ignored and forced once again to accept them as their legitimate authorities in charge are nothing but abuse of power that goes up to the top of UN Security council. Maayland_Press is against all that, and making sure all the Somalis to have a seat at the table to build a movement, while making sure the media serves the public interest, not the perpetrators using for their agendas, and against each others when divided as two factions or becoming the same edge against the majority when in agreement on power sharing.

There should be no more exploitation or forcing the so-called unarmed groups or those groups who is been labeled under the name; "Those who can't boast someone to mourn for them" , forced to flee from their homes or farms to a refugee camps, so the privileged anarchist tribes from central and northeastern Somalia to replace them. Maayland Press believes that media reform is crucial not just for creating better news and entertainment, but to advancing every issue especially for the deprived Somali Maay Population and those in the same genus care about.

It is vibrant, diverse and independent media, a cornerstone of a healthy democracy the International Community seems denying for the Somali Maay Population and those victims categorized under the name; "Others". And as we all know; 'Reason did not fail Us, but they did'. And most over all we can't blame our failure to others, as we failed ourselves first and last, with the help of those some of us call family member individuals among us who sold their people to their bully partners in crimes whom they receive the orders from, and some because of the little education they posses blinded by arrogance and seen themselves as superiors, and look upon their fellow deprived Somali Maay people ignorant and insignificant.

Imagine all the Notable Rahanweyn people! Only 5 is been recorded on the famous Wikipedia, of course that's including the only 2 great professors we ever had in our history, while Hawiye and Darod were listed by the hundreds of their gang leaders including their self proclaimed Colonels, Generals and Professors. Maayland.com and Maayland_Press will solely speak for those deprived voiceless people who attend the farms, domesticate farm animals, who fish, who carry heavy weights on their backs, who build houses, who bake, earn a real livelihood from early ages when deprived schools, sell their products, services and properties with counterfeit monies from a phony government imposed on them, pay it to the extortionist government soldiers or their Al-Shabab cousins, and finally end up either in refugee camp or drown in the Yemeni red sea shores after the well known International Puntland_Majertein Pirates snags their last pennies in the middle of the sea at gun point.

But for those who survive by the thousands deceased victims, and were left behind by their loved ones, with no shy from Maayland_Press's part in their own beautiful language whom they fully understand, their voices will be heard loud and clear to the whole world wide population who didn't know better, except what they've been informed about the celebrated Somali myth; "people with one religion, one culture and one language".
